Phantom of Curtice Prepares for Spark-N-Shine Car Show

CURTICE, OH – The fourth annual Phantom Fireworks “Spark-N-Shine” Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show will be held Saturday, June 13, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Maumee Bay State Park in Oregon.  The 11th annual Fred Grossman Phantom Fireworks Extravaganza will follow at dark.

This year’s festivities will feature over 200 cars, trucks and motorcycles on display, food vendors, games, fire equipment display, a LifeFlight helicopter landing, fireworks safety tips and much more, all followed by a breathtaking fireworks display produced by Phantom Fireworks of Curtice.

Proceeds from this year’s show will benefit the Jerusalem Township Fire Department and the Jerusalem Township Food Pantry.

The Fred Grossman Fireworks Extravaganza began in 1998 as a community display by Phantom to honor the memory of Fred Grossman, long-time genial co-manager with his wife Becky of the Phantom Curtice showroom.  Further honoring Mr. Grossman’s generosity and excellence in showroom operations, Phantom awards the “Fred Grossman Customer Service Award” to the deserving Phantom showroom manager.

“The spirit of ’Uncle Fred’ is definitely still around,” says current Phantom of Curtice showroom manager Michelle Jones-Holinko. “Fred Grossman and his wife Becky—born on the Fourth of July—always took care of their loyal customers by going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that each family would have a spectacular fireworks display in their backyard on the Fourth of July.

“Every year the Fred Grossman Fireworks Extravaganza honors his memory and his efforts here in northwest Ohio.”

In 2006, Ms. Jones-Holinko expanded the event to include a display of local classic cars, trucks and motorcycles.  The Phantom “Spark-N-Shine” show has grown to become a true celebration of community, complete with over 200 vehicles on display, games, food,  educational and commercial displays, capped off by the season’s hands-down, most outstanding professional fireworks display in the greater Lucas County area.

For 2009, local new car dealers were invited to display cars. The list of participating local organizations includes: the Toledo and Jerusalem Twp. Fire Departments with fire engines and the rescue squad, Waste Management and “Recycler the Robot,” the Jerusalem Twp. Food Pantry, the St. Charles Mercy Hospital Health Van, the Fire Safety Smoke House with Sparky the Fire Dog, the Lucas County MRDD Board, the US Army and many more community organizations.
