New Jersey Fireworks Laws


CONSUMER FIREWORKS
Specifically Permitted None
Specifically Prohibited Torpedoes, firecrackers, fireworks containing yellow or white phosphorus or mercury, sparklers, fireworks containing an ammonium salt, and a chlorate.


DISPLAY FIREWORKS
Display Permit Apply to local authorities. Permit to use explosives required if an electric match is used.
Insurance Required, $2500 minimum.
Operator No license specifically required by state law, but must be a competent operator, approved by local authorities.


LICENSING
  Safe plant locations, manufacturing practices, storage areas specified in state law. Indemnity bond of $10,000 – 50,000 required to manufacture unless waived by State Department of Banking and Insurance. Manufacturing license required; apply to State Commissioner of Labor.
