Ohio Fireworks Bill Passes, making consumer fireworks legal!

Today, Governor DeWine has signed House Bill 172, making Ohio the 49th state to legalize the use of consumer fireworks! By next July, you will be able to legally, and responsibly, use consumer fireworks in Ohio for the first time.

Getting this legislation passed by the House and Senate, then signed by the Governor was a major effort on the part of so many people. We are proud and gratified by the support of so many Ohioans who let their voices be heard throughout the halls of the Columbus statehouse. We’re thrilled for all firework’s enthusiasts in Ohio, and we never could have done it without your support.

A big “thank you” is necessary for the sponsors of the bill who spent countless hours (years!) working on this project: Representatives Brian Baldridge, Mike O’Brien, and House Majority Floor Leader Bill Seitz; and Senators Michael Rulli, Dr. Terry Johnson, and former Senator Dave Burke.  Their leadership, guidance and tireless efforts led us to this sweet victory.

We appreciate Governor DeWine and his administration’s engagement on this issue and their willingness to find a solution to a problem that has lasted far too long.

The effective date is July 1, 2022. Until then, feel free to start stocking up for what we hope is the biggest, brightest, and safest Fourth of July the Buckeye state has ever seen!
