The Horseracing Integrity and Safety Act on the verge of being passed

Sept. 26th, 2020: HORSERACING LEGISLATION could be right on the verge of being passed, as thanks to people like Team Valor racing partner Bruce Zoldan.

The Democratic Congressional Whip Stenny Hoyer is set late today on the floor of the House of Representatives, to announce that the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Act of 2020 is being added to the suspension calendar and could have a floor vote as early as next Tuesday.

The Horseracing Integrity and Safety Act includes a ban on race-day doping, the establishment of a uniform national standard for rules and regulations for U.S. horseracing that would be overseen by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). The Horseracing Integrity and Safety Act (HISA) is landmark legislation that would directly address the safety and welfare of racehorses, and the integrity of the sport itself, through better anti-doping measures and racetrack safety standards.

WHOA leader Staci Hancock said "If this happens—and we are all sitting on pins and needles right now—the new legislation will be brought to the Senate floor by Leading Mitch McConnell after the election and the Leader is very bullish about its chances for passages. We may need our supporters to make a lot of calls to their congressmen and women over the weekend before Tuesday and then—if you can actually believe it after 8 years of this initiative—we will all be done and we can go home and live our lives again."

Mrs. Hancock praised Zoldan for urging his Congressman Tim Ryan to prevail upon Hoyer to get the bill on the suspension calendar. Zoldan was in Washington, D. C. today, where Representative Ryan was able to arrange for him to pay his respects to Ruth Bader Ginsburg at the Capitol. Irwin spoke with Bruce today and asked him to thank Ryan for WHOA
